Former UFC welterweight contender Darren Till has inked a multi-fight agreement with Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship, marking another seismic shift in the Liverpudlian’s combat sports journey. The 33-year-old will make his bare-knuckle debut on 30th May at BKFC 90 inside Birmingham’s Utilita Arena.
Till’s Misfits Boxing Success Sets Stage for BKFC Move
The announcement comes hot on the heels of Till’s departure from Misfits Boxing, where he carved out an impressive 3-0 record that reminded everyone why he was once knocking on the door of UFC title contention. His Misfits campaign included victories over MMA veterans Anthony Taylor and Darren Stewart, before delivering a brutal knockout to former UFC middleweight champion Luke Rockhold to capture the promotion’s bridgerweight title last August.
Meanwhile, Till confirmed his Misfits exit on Monday, stating he was leaving “on extremely good terms” with the KSI-fronted promotion. “I’ve got nothing but love for Misfits, the owners and promoters and all the people who work behind the scenes, but it’s time to try my hand at something else,” Till explained.
McGregor’s BKFC Investment Attracts Top Talent
Subsequently, BKFC’s appeal has skyrocketed since UFC icon Conor McGregor became a part-owner through his McGregor Sports and Entertainment company’s stake acquisition in April 2024. The promotion has attracted high-calibre talent, including Olympic gold medallist and former two-time IBF super-middleweight champion James DeGale.
Till will compete at 185 pounds for BKFC 90, though his opponent remains unconfirmed. The Scouser didn’t mince words about his intentions: “I am very pleased to be signing with the BKFC. It’s an amazing promotion! F— everyone on this roster, I’m coming to be the face of violence. No one can beat me.”
Furthermore, this represents a significant career pivot for Till, who endured a torrid end to his UFC tenure, losing five of his final six octagon appearances before departing in 2023. However, his Misfits resurgence proved the “Gorilla” still possesses the killer instinct that once made him a welterweight title challenger.
