Mason Greenwood Transfer: Roma Ready to Make €40m Move for Marseille Striker

mason greenwood transfer

Roma are reportedly preparing a serious move for Mason Greenwood, with the Italian club ready to table €40 million to prise the 24-year-old away from Marseille. After rebuilding his career in France following his departure from Manchester United in 2022, Greenwood has been nothing short of sensational — 26 goals in 45 appearances last season tells its own story. According to Corriere dello Sport, Roma will also look to sweeten the deal by offering Marseille a percentage of his next transfer fee.

Mason Greenwood Transfer Rumour Dominates the Headlines

Meanwhile, the Mateus Fernandes situation is developing fast. Real Madrid and Arsenal have both reportedly stepped back from pursuing the West Ham United midfielder, with The Sun claiming both clubs believe Manchester United will win the race for the 21-year-old Portugal international. West Ham are holding out for £80 million, but United fancy their chances of negotiating — especially given the Hammers’ relegation from the Premier League. Alongside Fernandes, United have already wrapped up the £35 million signing of Éderson from Atalanta, while Nottingham Forest’s Elliot Anderson looks set to head to Manchester City.

Elsewhere, Sandro Tonali is attracting serious attention from both Arsenal and Manchester City, according to Nicolo Schira. Newcastle United want £100 million for the 26-year-old, who impressed despite Newcastle finishing 12th in the Premier League last season. United were linked but have reportedly cooled their interest.

Barcelona, Bayern and the Rest: Summer Dominoes Begin to Fall

Further afield, Barcelona are eyeing AFC Bournemouth’s Junior Kroupi as a potential alternative to Atlético Madrid’s Julián Álvarez, as reported by Sport. Álvarez remains the priority, but Barcelona refuse to pay over €100 million for a striker — and that is exactly what Bournemouth want for the 19-year-old. Arsenal and Paris Saint-Germain are also circling.

In addition, Bayern Munich’s move for Eintracht Frankfurt left-back Nathaniel Brown is closing in on completion. Florian Plettenberg reports the total package will reach €55 million, with the structure of fixed fees and add-ons still being finalised. The 22-year-old marked the occasion by scoring his first Germany goal in a 7-1 hammering of Curaçao.

Real Madrid have confirmed Marc Cucurella’s arrival from Chelsea on a deal running until 2032. ESPN reports the fee stands at an initial €55 million, with a further €5 million in potential add-ons. Ruben Amorim, 41, has also emerged as the front-runner to take the AC Milan job following Massimiliano Allegri’s sacking after a fifth-place finish in Serie A.

Finally, a few quick-fire updates: Liverpool scouted 18-year-old Lille midfielder Ayyoub Bouaddi at MetLife Stadium during Morocco’s draw with Brazil. Manchester City are confident Joško Gvardiol will sign a new deal despite Real Madrid’s interest. Newcastle have no intention of selling Lewis Hall despite interest from United and Chelsea. And Harvey Barnes is keen on a move to Aston Villa. A summer that is already moving at pace.
