Alex Pereira will continue his UFC journey with a new eight-fight deal. The current Light Heavyweight champion quickly rose to the top of the Middleweight division in November 2022. Just a year after his UFC debut, Pereira impressed in three fights, earning a match against his long-time rival, Israel Adesanya.

In early 2023, a year after this milestone, Pereira captured the 205-pound title, adding it to his achievements. This success followed his initial three-fight UFC contract. Pereira, known as “Poatan”, is now preparing to defend his title against Jamahal Hill at UFC 300 on April 13, 2024. He also secured another set of eight fights after finalizing this bout.

“Friday I signed, eight more from the start of this fight,” Pereira revealed on The MMA Hour. He expressed gratitude for his positive relationship with the UFC and his management team. “The UFC appreciates me because I’m focused and deliver results,” he said.

Pereira recounted how the UFC initially offered him three fights. “After my first fight, Dana [White] renewed my contract for eight more. Now, they’ve given me another eight. I bring value to the table, too,” he added. He praised the UFC for their support, describing their relationship as perfect.

With a record of 9-2 overall, Pereira has rebounded from his sole UFC loss to Adesanya. His latest victories were against former Light Heavyweight champions Jan Blachowicz and Jiri Prochazka. He defeated them first by split decision and then by a second-round technical knockout.
