Aaron Aby of Wrexham is setting sights on the world title, gearing up for a massive fight at OKTAGON 56, Europe’s top MMA event. As the number one flyweight in OKTAGON MMA, he’s ready to make a statement in Birmingham on April 20.
Aby’s last victory was a unanimous decision over Christopher Daniel at OKTAGON 52 in Newcastle. His first promotional fight, however, ended in a loss to flyweight champ Elias Garcia, a fight Aby was winning until a cut forced a doctor’s stoppage. Fans are clamoring for a rematch, expecting Garcia to defend or drop the title.
Ahead of OKTAGON 56, Aby declares, “I’m the top flyweight, so I’ll keep delivering top fights and entertainment. I consider myself the champ. Garcia can run, but he can’t hide. In Birmingham, I’m claiming the world title.”
OKTAGON MMA’s promoter Ondrej Novotny has warned Garcia, saying avoidance means losing the championship. Aby, a former footballer and a passionate Wrexham AFC supporter, is an inspiration. Despite living with cystic fibrosis and beating testicular cancer diagnosed in 2017, he’s defying odds, thriving as a pro athlete despite a predicted short lifespan. A true warrior’s tale!
